In 2012, Angela took to the TED stage to tell the story of her journey from a math teacher frustrated by under-performing students to a research psychologist investigating the science behind scholastic success. Her original hunch was that "character is at least as important as intellect" when it comes to achievement. Turns out, it's actually more important! The major trait that determined a person's success was "grit."
According to Angela, "grit" means the long-term commitment to goal ~ and pushing on even in the face failures, even if it takes years to achieve. The good news is, it's a trait that can be taught. Just as it is with running, we can train ourselves to get grittier.
