Founded in 2010 by high-profile editor Tina Brown, the annual Women in the World Summit brings together global leaders ~ in art, politics, business, tech, philanthropy and activism ~ to share their stories + swap advice about how to create better futures for women & girls. Sara took the stage at the 2013 conference to share her own success story and explain how she's helping to make the same opportunities available to women outside the US.
Growing up, Sara could always count on her father to ask the same question as she and her brother sat down at the dinner table ~ "what have you failed at this week?" He was disappointed if his children had no failures to dish up. Sara didn't realize it at the time, but her dad's reverse psychology paid off in the long run. By redefining failure as "trying" rather than as an "outcome," he helped his kids be bolder and freer in their choices and big life moves.
